AT&T announced in August of 2012 that they would be shutting down their 2G network by the end of 2016. While shutdowns will begin appearing sporadically across the country, the 2G Sunset network will cease to exist on January 1, 2017.
Wireless alarm systems communicate via cellular networks like the 2G, 3G and 4G networks. If your alarm system was installed with 2G equipment, your system will stop communicating when the network is shut down. Shutdowns may occur in selected areas before January 1, 2017, however by that date, the network will no longer exist and your 2G equipment not able to communicate alarm signals.
Contact Glenn Security at (918) 337-0600 or firstname.lastname@example.org and we can determine if your system will be affected.
